Satchmo American Center

Your gateway to American culture, education, research, and people-to-people connections in Ethiopia

Welcome to the Satchmo American Center

Named after the legendary jazz icon Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, our center opened in 2001 inside the U.S. Embassy compound in Addis Ababa. Recently renovated with a $50,000+ investment, we provide free access to authoritative U.S. information, digital resources, cultural programs, and education advising.
